What we do

Every year the Kiwanis Club of Charlotte actively participates in various fundraising and service projects. Some of the current highlights are detailed below. We also embrace the opportunity to support other Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs in the area:

  • Key Club: Our sponsorship of local clubs allows service-minded high school students to get involved and be part of the Kiwanis family!
  • Circle K: College students have their own way to get - and stay - involved in their local community. We are proud to offer our support and partnership in their efforts.
  • Aktion Club: The Kiwanis service org for adults with disabilities, Aktion clubbers are passionate about service and we couldn't be happier to help them realize their dreams!

Terrific Kids

Terrific Kids is a character-building program that recognizes students for modifying their behavior. Through the power of positive reinforcement, the program encourages kids to become the best versions of themselves. Kids determine what being terrific means to them, then develop their own goals and use peer mentoring to hold themselves accountable for the actions they take each week. When a participant achieves their goal, her or she is recognized for being a Terrific Kid!

The Kiwanis Club of Charlotte proudly sponsors Terrific Kids programs at local elementary schools - providing financial support and participating in regular recognition ceremonies to honor these high-achieving students!

Community Outreach & Support

Many families in our area struggle to provide what we take for granted to their children. Kiwanis Club of Charlotte - by way of our charitable Foundation - is proud of our work with local partners to offer assistance to disadvantaged members of our community. For decades, we have embraced the holiday spirit and stepped in to shop for children at our poorest schools and their families. Our "Christmas Baskets" program impacts dozens of families - offering gifts and groceries to help make their holiday season a little brighter. We also take the opportunity to aid residents in the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center, who would otherwise not be in a position to provide presents to their children.

Members of our club are constantly looking for new ways to make a difference in our community!

Raising Money

Fundraising activities are essential for supporting the work of non-profits and community groups. They not only raise vital funds but also enhance community engagement and awareness. Whether through our signature BBQ sale or newer initiatives like the Coolest Dog in Charlotte contest, these events not only generate funds through ticket sales and corporate sponsorships, but also provide a platform for enjoyable community participation.

In all these efforts, we seek to align our fundraising activities with the broader mission to champion child-focused initiatives - in our community and around the world. Kiwanis truly is a global organization of volunteers, dedicated to improving the world - one child and one community at a time.
